Open **Team** and select **Roles**: "Review default roles, create custom roles, and decide exactly which permissions each role receives." You need **Manage Team**.

## Override a Default Role

1. Select a default role, such as **Admin**.
2. Under **Permission Overrides**, turn permissions on or off.
3. Select **Save Override**.

"Default role names and deletion stay protected. Permission changes apply only to this workspace." Select **Reset to Default** to undo. The **Owner** role cannot be changed, so the workspace always has an account that can recover team and permission settings.

## Create a Custom Role

1. Select **Create Role**.
2. Enter a **Role Name** and a short **Summary**.
3. Choose **Start From**, the default role to copy.
4. Under **Permissions**, turn on only what this role needs. **Reset to Base** returns to the starting role's permissions.
5. Save.

Assign the role in each team member's editor. Custom roles show a custom badge and can be deleted. Default roles show **Not deletable**.

## Example

A "Lead Editor" role starting from **Editor** with **Listing Media** and **Deliver Listings** turned on, and billing hidden. Lead editors can upload and deliver, but not see finances.
